Glam Doll Donuts Back Entry

If you haven’t heard of Glam Doll Donuts yet, You’re welcome!  I can assure you that their donuts are a feast for the senses, a perfect daily taste bud delight that your soul will physically crave once you have one of their signature donuts.  I’m both honored and was privileged enough to be able to Paint and Design the place with the girls of LULU and the dolls.  We had a lot of fun with the place.  Here is my way of sharing a bit of what we did, the only way I know how…VISUALLY!

So many fun projects on this site.  We had a blast working with the dolls.

Above is the inspiration for the custom tile floor!!!  Doing this saved costs on ripping out existing tile, installing new tile, and kept the old tile out of a landfill.  This was the result:

We were so pumped on how things came out that we played up the design and stenciled the back entry tiles as well.  Each of the stencils was hand cut by our team and stenciled by hand.  SO worth it, for a one of a kind floor.   

Other elements included, a glitter epoxy floor, glitter counter tops, stenciled ceilings in the GUYS and DOLLS bathrooms, Stenciled table tops… (which actually need to be redone…They never were sealed, we thought we’d have more time before they opened, but what do ya know…the girls open their doors and are an instant success!

Our Custom Paisley Stencil in Two Layers above a beautiful Chandelier.  Thank you que sera for having such fabulous ideas for us to play off of.

Maggie O’Neill is the owner and creative genius behind Washington D.C Decorative Painting and Design Company O’Neill Studios. You can’t walk into a bustling restaurant or nightclub in the city that doesn’t have that one-of-a-kind signature O’Neill fabulous flair.

Above is the Irish Whiskey house that her and her team handled from top to bottom!  YES, we frequented the Whiskey House…we both have a lot of Irish in us so it was a no brainer!

We didn’t make it to the Oyster House on this trip but surely we will go next time I’m in town!  Adore the Modello!

This is the ladies room at the Lincoln!  Brilliant and fused with her own glorious original art pieces!

This is Capitol!  A new nightclub opening up in September that we were working on while I was there.  Still lots of work to be done, so I’ll be returning again to help finish things off with her team!

The level of excitement that my team and myself have about heading out to DC and showing them a little LULU love is unexplainable.  We are honored to be able to work side by side with such a talented team of painters.

The project was a total creative blast from start to finish. Owner Tahne Stillwell was yet another one of our “Perfect Clients”.  She had a vision and trusted in our creative ability from day one so the marriage of two was enjoyable for all of us involved every step of the way.

Among the installation of: color selection, Copper Patina “drip” finishes, painting the ceiling, trim, doors, and walls, a custom exterior sign, and 3 custom stencils painted over exposed brick we also were commissioned to do an original Marilyn Monroe mural.  I know I know, We were totally psyched to get to work on it.  Tahne 100%  had us at “Marilyn”.

My creative architect Steve put the above photo on photo-shop and created this “custom image” for our client to be the mural.  It’s formatted to look like a layered stencil.

That was really the hardest part of this project.  Interior Designer Peg Malanaphy from Interiors of Stillwater and the salon owner Tahne Stillwell had already selected colors for us, so the next step was to paint.  We did the mural in layers using Sherwin Williams interior wall paint in 4 different sheen’s.  Here’s a few pictures of the mural in progress:

You can see that the last and final layer that we added was a custom yellow stenciled using a Cutting Edge Stencil called Aladdin.  We did the stencil to frame out her BEAUTIFUL face.  Here is a picture of the finished wall of our very beautiful and flirty gal.  Note the gorgeous Patina finish and colors that Peg installed and picked out.

That’s right people it is finally here!  A place for us to rest out creative little heads after a long day of blasting color allover the Twin Cities.  LULU Painting Headquarters, aka LULU & LILLY with my dearest designer gal pal Erica Cooper of YOUR Style ReDesigned. We put our wild & color hungry heads together and here is what we came up with:

Maggie O’Neill….  where might one begin when paying homage in written form to such an extraordinarily visual lady…First things first…You should probably peep her latest YOUTUBE Video…

Upon my travels with this saucy lady in Morocco I fell smitten and in love with her within seconds… From her studio’s annual Irish celebration parties, to her ‘Kiss me I’m an Artist’ t-shirts  the girl is the epitome of an ArtistE!

Once known as   ‘the dating artist’ ….(she had 30 dates, did 30 paintings…one about each)…I would have loved to have gone to THAT art opening.  Oh, I forgot to mention, she met her future husband on this arty dating adventure…but that’s a whole other story… (He had her when he did his kick ass WORM on the dance floor!) For those of you unfamiliar with the worm…recognize!

Maggie can also be found painting portraits of the seasons latest dresses for Neiman Marcus!  When she is not busy practicing her Wedding Worm routine she is busying her self by painting for the likes of this Falls Desperate Housewives of D.C. (Be sure to look for her on Bravo this Fall!).

The girl oozes talent and creativity, but mostly she SPARKLES and Glistens all things related to paint and positivity…  be on the look out for this classy color lover…something tells me she will be taking over the world just about any day now.

Oh yes and she also has the  most adorably high dimples and her signature ” paddles”  for thumbs that help her get all that painting done and swim really fast… Hey ladies, even cowgirls get the blues!

She does a whole slew of talented painty things out of her O’neill Studios in DC.  The girl is a vision…an inspiration…a HOOT and it should be in a textbook somewhere that  all artists, especially of the female kind should know her name!

Traveled to Morocco with a gorgeous and talented group of Peacock Painter Ladies…and stayed at the ever so beautiful Peacock Pavilions.

and this little LULU helped Melanie Royals and the other Peacock Painters complete this masterpiece, one teeny tiny embroidered “ish” stencil at a time…

This little LULU also slept in the following sweetly stenciled Peacock Pavilions room. 

Lastly, this little LULU fell in love… with the colors, patterns, people, and places that danced through Marrakesh by her side, in front of her, and above! Oh did they ever inspire her so…

but more on these joyous folks some other day…(Maryam and her tales…oh this and oh that…makes me gush just thinking about her)
