<p style="text-align:center;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/cgandolfo/1218391250/" target="_blank">with a cherry on top</a></p>
<p>Recently at the Walker Art Museum in lovely Minneapolis Minnesota, there has been some cherry painting goodness going on.  Take a walk down to the <a href="http://garden.walkerart.org/index.wac" target="_blank">sculpture gardens</a> and you may notice a slightly different color cherry or actually a brighter, fresher, improved cherry on the spoon in the gardens.   The <a href="http://garden.walkerart.org/artwork.wac" target="_blank">Spoonbridge and Cherry</a> got is cherry refinished after 21 years of hard and cold Minnesota weather elements, and all too many photographs with tourist to count.</p>
<p style="text-align:center;"><img class="size-full wp-image-805 aligncenter" title="cherry" src="http://lulupainting.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/cherry.jpg" alt="cherry" width="375" height="500" /></p>
<p style="text-align:center;">Not your typical Spray job&#8230;</p>
<p style="text-align:center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-806" title="cher1" src="http://lulupainting.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/cher1.jpg" alt="cher1" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p style="text-align:center;">Here is the cherry after receiving its first coat of epoxy primer</p>
<p style="text-align:center;"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-807" title="chee" src="http://lulupainting.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/chee.jpg" alt="chee" width="500" height="333" /></p>
<p style="text-align:center;">A view of the mayhem from afar.  All photos by: Cameron Wittig</p>
<p>The Walker&#8217;s <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/walkerart/sets/72157614810493862/" target="_blank">Flickr</a> page is pretty cool.  The photos above are most of my favorites.  They have a link documenting both the removal of the cherry and the refinishing of the project.  Apparently that cherry weighs a whopping 1,200 pounds. Ay yi yi, sounds like quite the ordeal to me.  It would be interesting to discuss this project with the folks who did it.   Anyone know who painted the Spoonbriges Cherry?</p>
<p>and with this I leave you with  The Runways- Cha Cha CHERRY BOMB!!!</p>
