4 of Minneapolis’s most innovative and inspiring artists: Isaac Arvold, Eric Inkala, John Grider, and Keiko Yagishita followed up their 2007 “Almost Famous” show with the 2009 “ALMOST HOMELESS” on March 28th at the First Amendment Gallery.  Here is what you missed…

With A Cherry on Top!

with a cherry on top

Recently at the Walker Art Museum in lovely Minneapolis Minnesota, there has been some cherry painting goodness going on.  Take a walk down to the sculpture gardens and you may notice a slightly different color cherry or actually a brighter, fresher, improved cherry on the spoon in the gardens.   The Spoonbridge and Cherry got is cherry refinished after 21 years of hard and cold Minnesota weather elements, and all too many photographs with tourist to count.

The Walker’s Flickr page is pretty cool.  The photos above are most of my favorites.  They have a link documenting both the removal of the cherry and the refinishing of the project.  Apparently that cherry weighs a whopping 1,200 pounds. Ay yi yi, sounds like quite the ordeal to me.  It would be interesting to discuss this project with the folks who did it.   Anyone know who painted the Spoonbriges Cherry?

and with this I leave you with  The Runways- Cha Cha CHERRY BOMB!!!
