“A joyous and seemingly effortless transformation is what I strive to bring to each of my clients homes. ”
Alicia ‘Lulu’ Danzig

Greetings Lovely People,

I’m Alicia ‘LULU’ Danzig and I’ve been painting for over 10 years now.  It all started when I was but a wee one living in Boston, MASS with my Papa who had a very successful painting company.  I can remember being all of 7 years old watching my Papa’s crew climb up and down the scaffolding outside of a big boxy house on a sunny day like a circus act.   After my Papa sat me down and gave me a big ol brush filled with firetruck red paint for some lower exterior bricks, my adoration fixated into a full blown love affair with paint.

That same summer my Papa and I were driving home after dinner one night and he looked at me and said: “What do you want to be when you grow up kid?”  and I looked him dead in the eye and said: ” I want to be a painter, just like my dad!”  and this is what I have done…

I get my straight lines, hard work ethic, and resilience from my Papa.  The decorative artsy fartsy parts of me definitely come from my mama.   My mother was always doing something around our beautiful home to make it more colorfully personalized and cozy.  One day she’d be glazing and stenciling in the reading room, the next she’d be painting the stairs purple with a crimson teal trim.  She even went as far as to paint my play room stark white and let myself and every other kid in the neighbor go to town on the walls for years.  There are pictures on facebook of this room and its terribly embarrassing what I created in my youth but you get the point.  I was free to express myself in any way possible on those walls.  This helped nurture the creative passion within.  Thanks mama!  Every single part of our home had life pulsating into it  with color and all because of my mothers natural ability to make everything glow.

To make a  long story shorter…I’m a dual city painter.  I get gigs on the East coast and in the Midwest.  Everyday I love what I do, and everyday I am grateful for the opportunities that arise. I believe  that nothing alters the mood of a room more than a fresh coat of paint and I formulated LULU Painting to use only the highest quality in products and bring innovative products and design to update your living space, office, and more.

Happy Painting! lulu

(and now for that drab old profile…)

Lulu attended Burlington College where she studied Art among other subjects and traveled to Guatemala, Africa, Belize, Germany, Czech Republic, Mexico, and Jamaica to help broaden her cultural senses. In each of these countries she spent time with either local artists , at art museums, trying her hand at various crafts, or simply being culturally inspired. These experiences led Lulu to create several series of oil and acrylic paintings which were sold at various Art shows throughout New England.

After this success, Lulu moved to Minneapolis, MN where she worked for a local Residential and Commercial house painting company. In 2005, Alicia launched LULU Painting and quickly began accepting clients in and around the Minneapolis area as well as in New England. Alicia is currently a member of the Stencil Artisans League, Inc. (SALI) and is the philanthropic chair for the Northern Territory Artisan League (NTA). Lulu regularly attends classes and seminars to keep her craft current and stay on top of trends in the industry.

You can also find Lulu teaching Decorative Painting courses over at the Minneapolis Institute of Fine Finishes.  Currently she is teaching both stenciling, fine finishing, wood icing, and distressed wood working courses.  By being a member of the school Lulu is able to keep on top of the trends and products that are vastly growing in the painting industry.
